About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is the most powerful self-help method known to humankind!  It can be used to navigate conception, experience a more comfortable pregnancy, labor and birth, accelerate healing and more.  All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and has been used for centuries to solve problems, maintain and improve health and reach goals.  It is simply an altered state whereby your mind is relaxed, focused and open to positive suggestion. In hypnosis you remain in control at all times.

Karla Lightfoot is a highly trained medical clinical hypnotist who is committed to teaching mothers how the mind is a key element in their well-being. Because the subconscious mind runs the entire body, she teaches you how to work with and direct the mind to support and heal you when you most need it. We work with clients privately and in groups.

For every challenge motherhood presents, hypnosis has an answer.  Call us for a free 20-minute consultation and see below for answers to any questions or concerns you may have.

Can I Be Hypnotized?

Anyone who wants to be hypnotized and is of average intelligence or above can be hypnotized.  As long as you can understand the instructions from the hypnotist and want to follow them, you can.  Strong-willed, intelligent individuals are very good candidates.  In fact, all hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis.  The degree of hypnosis varies by individual and from one session to the next.  A light trance is all that is required to achieve most goals.

Can I Be Controlled in Hypnosis?

No, you are in control the entire time while in hypnosis.  A knowledgeable hypnotist simply guides or facilitates the process for you.  You won't do anything in a hypnotic state that you would not find acceptable in your normal awake state.   You can hear everything being said and you are not asleep.  Most clients report pleasant feelings of mental and physical relaxation, similar to those moments before you fall asleep at night. You will be relaxed, yet still aware and able to respond if you need to.

Are There Any Side Effects?

No, hypnosis is natural and safe.  You will be very relaxed afterwards.  Every few minutes of hypnosis is equivalent to approximately 2 hours of sleep.

Can I Get Stuck in Hypnosis?

No one has ever gotten stuck in a terminal state of hypnosis.  It simply cannot happen.  If the hypnotist left the room, or if you were listening to a tape and the power went out, you would either fall asleep and wake up naturally, or your subconscious mind would detect that there is no voice guiding you and bring you to conscious awareness.

Will I Tell You Anything I Don’t Want To?

No, hypnosis is not a truth serum so you will not divulge secrets.  In fact, though it would not be productive, you could even lie if you wanted to.

Does It Work?

The success rate for hypnosis is very high.  A survey of psychotherapy literature by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. showed a recovery rate using hypnotherapy of 93% with 6 sessions.  The three keys to success are that you are motivated to make the change, you hold a clear picture/sense of yourself with the change complete and you use repetition to reinforce the change.

What does a Private Session Cost?

A session with Karla costs $250.  Customized CDs are $150.  Standard CDs are $35.

How long does a Session Last?

The average session runs between one and one & a half hours. Some can last longer.

How many Sessions will I Need?

On average most issues are resolved in four to six sessions. Depending on the client and issue(s) addressed, the total number of sessions could be fewer or more.
